Commuters exiting Interstate 25 at Johnson’s Corner this morning saw something new: two moose grazing by the side of the road.

Tyler Kennedy was on his way to his job as marketing director for Solstice Arts when he saw the pair about 9:30.

“I thought they were horses — you don’t expect to see a moose,” he said.

Solstice Arts is an art publishing company started by his father. Kennedy ran into the office to get a good camera and drove back around until he was about 20 yards from the animals.

“The two dark figures (were) frolicking in the green field alongside our corporate headquarters,” he said. He took a couple of photographs of the moose celebrating today’s solstice near Solstice Arts.

Law enforcement officials were soon on the scene to make sure people did not disturb the animals, Kennedy reported.
