GREELEY — Investigators foiled a murder-for-hire plot by two Greeley men this week when they learned Christopher Hanson, 21, planned to have someone murder a witness and victim of two earlier criminal cases, according to Weld County Sheriff’s deputies.

Hanson is currently in custody with bond set at $250,000 for the prior kidnapping and sexual assault charges and $3 million on the murder-for-hire charges.

Undercover officers also arrested Jesse Rodriguez, 19, on charges of solicitation, attempted first degree murder and conspiracy after he met with undercover officers to finalize the murder-for-hire plans, according to a written statement from Weld County Sheriff John Cooke.

Bond for Rodriguez is set at $2 million dollars.
