Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse for the Rockies. Five days after Troy Tulowitzki was fitted for a cast, Ubaldo Jimenez walked out of the clubhouse before Tuesday’s game feeling sick.
“I am dizzy, a little warm,” Jimenez told The Denver Post. “I am going home to sleep.”
Jimenez, 26, said he still expects to start Wednesday at Coors Field against the Red Sox. He hasn’t just been the best pitcher in baseball – 13-1, 1.16 ERA – but has made a compelling argument for National League MVP.
“That’s my man, right there. I knew when we faced him in the World Series (in 2007) that he was going to be special,” said Red Sox slugger David Ortiz.
He was still harnessing his power when he last faced the Red Sox during a World Series loss at Fenway Park,
“Obviously, he’s put it together. I am looking forward to it,” Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. “He’s having a year right now for the record books.”
