BOULDER — A 44-year-old Boulder woman who pleaded guilty to burning a 3-year-old boy with a cigarette but failed to appear for her sentencing hearing Friday did not turn herself in to authorities this morning, the deadline she was given to do so before a judge activated a warrant for her arrest.
Ghanda Roongsang now is wanted on a $15,000 warrant. Boulder County District Court Judge Gwyneth Whalen gave her attorney a few days to get in touch with Roongsang and get her to court because the woman hasn’t missed a hearing until now.
Roongsang pleaded guilty in April to misdemeanor child abuse and felony menacing. She was arrested in October after the mother of a boy who had been at Roongsang’s house playing with her children noticed two cigarette burns – one on the boy’s forehead and another behind his ear.
Roongsang faces one to three years in prison for the felony menacing charge, plus six to 18 months for the misdemeanor child abuse charge.
