Flight for Life transported two men to the hospital this afternoon after they were pulled from the Arkansas River north of Salida in Chaffee County.

The two men and their wives were involved in a boating accident just before 1:30 p.m.

A raft went over the Diversion Dam ejecting the four passengers inside, although the raft did not flip.

The women were wearing life vests and were able to pull themselves out of the river.

The two men — who were not wearing life vests — were pulled out of the river by rescuers who had to perform CPR on site. They were then airlifted to a Denver hospital.

The two men were identified as Milton Crosby, 79, from Sayre, Okla. and Lonnie Mills, 75 from Waterville, Ore.

The women in the accident were treated for minor injuries. The condition of the men was not immediately available.
