WASHINGTON — The Army has decided not to punish any officers in command during the 2008 battle of Wanat, one of the deadliest days for American forces in Afghanistan, officials announced Wednesday.

The finding by Gen. Charles Campbell, who was authorized to conduct a final inquiry into a battle that left nine American soldiers dead and 27 American and Afghan soldiers wounded, reversed his earlier decision to deliver letters of reprimand to three officers, based on additional information they were allowed to submit.
