A body that was recovered from the Colorado River in Garfield County last week was identified Wednesday as that of Taylor Chisholm, 20 of Covington, La., according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s office.
Last Friday about 12:20 p.m., deputies received reports of a floating body near Rulison.
Emergency responders from several agencies eventually recovered a body near the Parachute Bridge.
Chisholm reportedly fell into the river on June 2 near No Name area on Interstate 70 when he was attempting to cross with two other people in a cable basket with a pulley system, the sheriff’s office said.
The basket tipped and Chisholm was thrown into the fast-moving current. Chisholm was not wearing a life vest or other floatation device, nor were the other two people with him.
The search Chisholm was called off after two days due to dangerous conditions on the river.
