Getting your player ready...

What happens when you give nine designers a variety of fabrics, everyday objects and notions, a sewing machine, a model and less than an hour to make an outfit? Some rather outrageous ensembles, judging by what happened when a similar competition took place last summer (Armando Guerra’s winning design, above). Designers will compete at Style Wars during the Denver Art Museum’s Untitled event, 6-10 p.m. Friday. The competition starts at 7 p.m. in Ponti Hall when designers are given the rules of the game. New this year is that designers were earlier asked to choose a work of art from the museum as inspiration. Designers start creating at 8 p.m.. A fashion show is at 9 p.m., when contestants compete for cash prizes and the “crowd favorite” award. Included with museum admission. 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway, 720-865-5000,
