Opera in Crested Butte.

The Crested Butte Music Festival, Saturday through Aug. 5, will bring opera to the valley with three events: Puccini’s “La Boheme”; a special children’s performance of Humperdink’s “Hansel und Gretel”; and an intimate evening at the Opera Gala Home Soiree. Celebrating its 13th season, the festival brings world-class musicians, singers and dancers each summer to the wildflower capital of the world. Ticket prices range from $10 to $130. Free Alpen Brass concerts.

The Alpen Brass, a symphonic brass ensemble of 12 professional brass musicians and percussionists, will kick off the Crested Butte Music Festival with three free concerts: Brass for Kids, the first show in the Divine Family Concert Series, July 3; Symphony Pops with Alpen Brass on July 3; and Patriotic Brass, a performance of favorite marches and patriotic songs for Independence Day, July 4.

A Beaver Creek Fourth.

A day-long Independence Day celebration will be held July 4 at Beaver Creek. There will be food, a headliner concert on the lawn and fireworks at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. Visit and click on the “Events and Activities” tab.

Old-fashioned Fourth in Ouray.

Ouray’s old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration includes a full day of festivities: a pancake breakfast; a water fight on Main Street; the Firefighters Dance; horse races; “Ourayce” (a 10K walk-run); a patriotic parade; kids games; barbecue; zipline rides; a Jeep flare parade; and fireworks over the town.
