CHICAGO — Pilots of United and Continental airlines said Friday they have run into a roadblock in negotiating a transition agreement in the two carriers’ proposed merger.

Represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, the pilots said talks have stalled because of what they say is management’s unwillingness to compromise on “matters that have little financial impact.”

The two airlines announced May 3 that they would merge by year’s end — operating under the United name and Continental colors — if regulatory approval is given.
