NEDERLAND, Colo.—Authorities are investigating reports that an armed man confronted a man and woman hiking in the foothills west of Boulder on Saturday, fired one shot and tied them to trees.

The man suffered bruised wrists and a leg cut. The woman was unharmed.
The assailant was described as a 40-year-old man wearing a green shirt, camouflage shorts and a floppy cap with a bandana over his face. No arrests have been made.
The male victim was a 44-year-old from Berthoud and the female was 32 and from Fort Collins. Their names weren’t released.
