Miguel Olivo is stalking history in his quest for a first all-star berth. He crushed a hanging 80-mph slider from Kevin Correia in the fourth inning, his 94th home run as a catcher, 12 shy of the Dominican record set by Tony Peña. Olivo has hit 11 home runs this season, but Thursday marked only his third on the road.

That’s a Mora.

Melvin Mora made his third start at first base, walking and scoring twice in his first two at-bats and singling in his third. He also jumped into the stands in an unsuccessful attempt to catch a foul ball.

Correia panacea.

The Padres’ pitching staff has been baseball’s best this season, but Correia has never had much success against the Rockies. His career ERA against Colorado ballooned to 4.74 in 76 innings.
