Rockies manager Jim Tracy says Jonathan Herrera creates action on the basepaths. He did in the first inning Saturday night. With one out, he singled off third baseman Pablo Sandoval’s glove, recorded his first stolen base of the season, took third on Carlos Gonzalez’s single to right and scored the first run of the game on Melvin Mora’s single to left.
Not Ubaldo’s night.
The Giants sent 10 hitters to the plate in the third inning against Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez and scored seven runs. It was the most runs scored against Jimenez this season, and it took 37 pitches for him to get out of the inning.
Dexter serving.
Dexter Fowler’s two-run single tied the score at 7-7 in the sixth inning as the Rockies completed a comeback from a 7-1 deficit. It was Fowler’s first multiple-RBI game of the season.
