A former middle school librarian and soccer coach was sentenced to five years in prison today after pleading guilty to a relationship with a 14-year-old student.
Roberto Rodriguez, 32, pleaded guilty in April to attempted sexual assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He previously faced charges of sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust,
Rodriguez was a paraprofessional at Denver’s Lake Middle School, where he was a girls soccer coach, when he began an ongoing sexual relationship with the female student in December 2008, prosecutors said.
School administrators learned of the allegations and called Denver police in March 2009.
