A message written on Facebook led El Paso County sheriff’s detectives to a couple who had been eluding authorities for almost two months in the case of 9-year-old girl found dead in Monument.
El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said detectives were able to track the message the couple wrote to a local television station back to a motel in Henderson, Nev., and find and arrest Monique Lynch and Hanif Sims on Wednesday. During a news conference Thursday morning, Maketa said the couple were sleeping when Henderson police arrived.
Authorities have been searching for the couple since the body of 9-year-old Genesis Sims was found in a crawl space in a Monument townhome May 14. Maria St. Louis-Sanchez, The Gazette
