A message written on Facebook led El Paso County Sheriff’s detectives to a couple who had been eluding authorities for almost two months in the case of 9-year-old girl found dead in Monument.

El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said detectives were able to track the message they wrote to a local television station back to a motel in Henderson, Nev., and find and arrest Monique Lynch and Hanif Sims on Wednesday. During a press conference Thursday morning, Maketa said the couple were sleeping when Henderson police arrived at the motel to arrest Sims and Lynch.

Authorities have been searching for the couple since the body of 9-year-old Genesis Sims was found in a crawl space in a Monument town home on May 14.
