ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—A welder working in Englewood has been critically injured after vapors inside a fuel tank exploded.
Englewood Fire Department spokeswoman Marla Wilcox says the worker was burned Thursday afternoon at ACI Services, an environmental remediation and construction firm. She says other workers saw the explosion and began CPR on the man, whose name wasn’t released.
Wilcox says the 21,000-gallon tank was about half full of fuel and water when a fire ball erupted.
Police and fire departments in the south-Denver suburb are investigating the accident. Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors will also review what happened.
