Gunner Wiebe of Cherry Hills Country Club had four eagles and was 15-under-par in winning quarterfinal and semifinal matches Thursday at the Colorado Golf Association’s Match Play Championship at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora.
Wiebe defeated Alex Gutesha of Meridian Golf Club 3 and 1 in the morning, then posted a 5 and 4 win over Jim Knous of the G.C. at Ironbridge in the afternoon.
Wiebe will face Klinton Krieger of Ptarmigan C.C. in today’s 36-hole championship match. Krieger, a University of Denver golfer, defeated Danny Hahn of CommonGround in the quarterfinals and Taylor Stamp of the Broadmoor G.C. in the semifinals, both by 3 and 1.
Cowboys dismiss lineman.
Thomas Vonashek, a backup offensive lineman at Wyoming, has been dismissed from the team. Coach Dave Christensen says the redshirt freshman has been dismissed for violation of team rules. He declined to release any other details.
