Liberty Media chairman John Malone said this week that he has considered moving his company out of Colorado, according to a report in the New York Post.
“The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the world,” Malone told the Post in an interview at the Allen & Co. Sun Valley Conference. Given the global nature of his business, Malone told the Post, “we could move out of Colorado.”
The newspaper noted that it wasn’t clear whether Malone was suggesting a move was under consideration, whether he was thinking of moving out of the U.S. or ranting against high taxes.
A Liberty representative declined to comment.
Also during the interview, Malone lamented not buying newspapers in the past year when prices were depressed. He described the newspaper business as a great investment opportunity but one that he’d missed.
