AURORA, Colo.—Aurora has received a federal grant of more than $436,000 to help provide housing to homeless military veterans in the city.

Colorado Congressman Ed Perlmutter pushed for the grant this year and says it will provide the veterans resources “get back on their feet.” Perlmutter was in Aurora Friday for a ceremony presenting a check for the grant.

The grant is expected to help subsidize a year’s rent for 50 veterans and their families who are homeless in Aurora. The Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Denver and the Aurora Housing Authority will select the veterans who receive the money and the hospital will also provide counseling and medical help.
