The Boulder Public Library Concert Series presents the Central City Opera in a bilingual performance of “En Mis Palabras (In My Own Words)”, a one-act English/Spanish opera. The performance features four singers, a piano and guitar. It tells the story of a teenage Latina’s journey into adulthood through her relationships with her family. Three summer carillon concerts remain in the University of Denver’s recital series. A carillon is similar to an organ but uses bells instead of pipes. DU’s Williams Carillon contains 65 bronze bells, the largest of which weighs six tons. Free. 4 p.m., 2201 E. Asbury Ave., Denver. The listening area is between the Williams Tower and Stapleton Tennis Pavilion and in the courtyard at the south end of the Ritchie Center. Lawn chairs and blankets welcome. “There’s No Place Like Home” is the theme for an art show to benefit Colorado Canine Rescue. The show features paintings, photography, sculpture and mosaic works by local artists.
