The Hi-Plains Patriots are the result of the schools in Vona and Seibert combining after a 1971 fire destroyed most of the Seibert high school. My junior year at Vona was shared with the kids from Seibert. We had our struggles to get the two rivals to work together. The combined school colors of red, white and blue made the selection of the Patriot mascot so natural.
