Those who prefer having fun while they run rather than exercising to the point of exhaustion should check out the annual Kids Cure for Cancer run/walk July 25 at Washington Park. The event includes a 5K run-walk, a 1K fun run and community fair with a pancake breakfast and carnival. Organizers hope participants will raise at least $93 per person, choosing that number because it pays for the cost for an overnight stay in an apartment designed for kids with cancer and their families. Proceeds from the event benefit Brent’s Place, a long-term housing facility for children whose immune systems are compromised while recovering from bone marrow transplantation. Registration is $15 for those under 17 or over 65; $30 for adults and $70 for a family four-pack. The event goes from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25. Team registration closes July 20.
