Getting your player ready...

The biggest question Rockies opponents have about second baseman Jonathan Herrera is how to get him out.

With a fourth-inning triple Sunday at Coors Field against the Padres, Herrera extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Four of the 11 were multihit games. Before the 11-game streak, Herrera had a 10-game streak — giving him hits in 21 of 22 games.

Spreading the wealth.

In the 9-7 loss to the Padres, six Rockies had at least one RBI. Carlos Gonzalez drove in two runs. Herrera, Miguel Olivo, Clint Barmes, Brad Hawpe and pitcher Jhoulys Chacin each drove in one run.

Another tough outing.

Rockies left-hander Jeff Francis hasn’t won a game since June 13. In his last three starts, including Sunday’s matchup with the Padres, Francis has given up 16 earned runs in 12 innings.
