NEW YORK — With a prosthetic nose, wig and glasses, the singer Jewel has pulled off a comic mission of “undercover karaoke.”
In a popular Web video posted Tuesday on the comedy site , Jewel dons a disguise, posing as a meek businesswoman named Karen. When her supposed co-workers coax her to the stage of a Los Angeles karaoke bar, she belts out — to the astonishment of the audience — her hits “Who Will Save Your Soul” and “Foolish Games.”
The video was rapidly gaining views and had been watched more than 213,000 times as of Tuesday evening. The Associated Press
