Total employment by U.S. airlines stood at 557,399 in May, down from 576,155 in May 2009, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Of Denver International Airport’s three largest carriers, United reported 46,254 total employees in May, compared with 48,352 in May 2009; Frontier, 5,453 (includes Midwest merger data) in May, compared with 4,919 in May 2009 (prior to Midwest merger); and Southwest, 34,916 in May, compared with 35,772 in May 2009.
