BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — The Argentine Senate debated into the night Wednesday a proposal to legalize same-sex marriage.
The issue has divided the Senate, where it has about as many supporters as it does opponents.
The law would give gay couples the same rights as heterosexual ones, including the right to adopt. If the law is approved, Argentina will become the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage.
