GREELEY, Colo.—The arraignment of a Fort Collins police officer accused of lying in a botched murder investigation has been postponed until July 30.

Lt. James Broderick is charged with perjury in the investigation of Timothy Masters, who was convicted of murder in 1999 but released in 2008 after he was exonerated by DNA evidence.

The judge overseeing Broderick’s case isn’t available on July 19, Broderick’s original arraignment date.

Broderick’s case has been assigned to Chief District Judge James Hartmann in neighboring Weld County because all the judges in Larimer County recused themselves. Two current Larimer County district judges, Jolene Blair and Terry Gilmore, were prosecutors who handled Masters’ case.

Both could be called to testify in Broderick’s case.
