A week from today, the three-day roar of the 31st Mopar Mile-High Nationals will begin at Bandimere Speedway, the longtime host of one of the top drag-racing events in the country. The kickoff party is typically as enjoyable as watching the NHRA stars race at more than 290 mph. On Thursday, the city of Golden will host the Mopar Big Block Party, a chance for fans to mingle with most of Mopar’s NHRA drivers, including top fuel’s Tony Schumacher and Cory McClenathan, funny car’s Ron Capps and Jack Beckman, and pro stock’s V. Gaines of Lakewood. The event is free and begins at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street.
