The driver of an RTD bus who went the wrong way on the Interstate 25 HOV lanes early Wednesday resigned Thursday, a spokesman for the transit agency said.
The man, who was not named, had been a driver since August 2008, said Scott Reed, spokesman for the Regional Transportation District.
Law enforcement officials said Thursday that they would not charge the driver because no officer witnessed the offense.
The driver, filling in on the route, was traveling alone when he went around gates and past signs that should have warned him before heading northbound in the then-southbound designated high-occupancy vehicle lane about 5:30 a.m..
