Registration is open for the Aug. 14 Circle the Summit/ Bob Guthrie Memorial Ride, Wilderness Sports, 400 Main St., Frisco;

Pedal power.

Sign up by Aug. 11, and organizers knock $10 from the $75 adult fee for this road bicycle touring event. Four route options range from 21 to 100 miles each, all beginning and ending in Frisco. Participation is limited to 750 cyclists. With matching grants, the organizers have raised $4.5 million toward their goal of completing the Swan Mountain Recpath, a safe cycling route around Dillon Reservoir.

A world of yurt

It takes a village.

For less than $90 per night, six people (queen bed and 2 bunk beds) can stay in an updated version of the traditional Central Asian shelter. Amenities include interior electrical outlets, a microwave, two tables and six chairs, and a tent pad outside. In the bathhouse nearby are toilets, showers, wireless access and a washer/dryer. First-come, first-served.

Tree time

The Singing Trees, Ford Park, Vail

Using three beetle- killed lodgepole pine, artists, Ben Roth and Brad Watsabaugh created this environmental art display. They split each tree in vertical halves, creating a bench for park visitors. When the exhibit opened earlier this month, members of the Colorado Children’s Chorale gathered on the benches to sing, lending the exhibit its unusual name.
