Getting your player ready...

To date, the baseball draft of 2006 has gone down as the one that produced Tim Lincecum, Evan Longoria and Clayton Kershaw. But Reds center fielder Drew Stubbs, the eighth pick, is coming on. He hit two home runs off Jorge De La Rosa, Stubbs’ second multihomer game of the month. He hit three at Wrigley Field on July 4.

Red-hot offense.

The Reds piled up seven runs in 3 1/3 innings against De La Rosa. No surprise there. They lead the league in hitting, runs, hits, total bases, RBIs and slugging percentage.

Fine leather.

Carlos Gonzalez made a diving snag of Miguel Cairo’s third-inning liner to save a run. CarGo may be baseball’s most versatile outfielder, having made 41 starts in center, 20 in left and 16 in right.
