Four-time Denver City Open tennis champion Cory Ross defeated Nima Roshan of Chula Vista, Calif., 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 on Saturday and advanced to the semifinals of the Safeway Foundation Men’s Open at the Colorado Athletic Club Inverness.
Top-seeded Nick Monroe, a former University of North Carolina player, swept Christopher Lam of Hawaii 6-3, 6-3. Second-seeded Roman Borvanov of Beaverton, Ore., advanced by defeating Grand Junction’s Luke Shields 6-2, 6-4, and he’ll face Ross in the semis.
Third-seeded Brian Wilson earned the final slot in the semifinals. He defeated Grand Junction’s Clancy Shiels 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
