A term-limited state senator from Pueblo is taking over the Colorado Lottery.
Democratic Sen. Abel Tapia was named the lottery’s new director Friday. He takes over Aug. 1.
Tapia will resign his Senate seat when he starts work for the lottery, so Pueblo Democrats will be able to appoint a short-term replacement.
