A man and dog were struck by a hit-and-run driver at 6:06 p.m. Sunday in Lone Tree as they were crossing Commons Street at Sky Ridge Avenue, Lone Tree police said today.

Investigators said that the man, a woman and the dog were in the middle of Commons Street when a blue-green minivan made a right turn on to Commons and struck the dog and man.

The driver stopped momentarily and told the woman who was not hit that he was going to get help. However, he never returned.

The man was taken to Sky Ridge Medical Center with minor injuries, treated and released. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian clinic with injuries.

Lone Tree police said the driver is a white male, about 40, with facial hair, longer dark-colored hair and was wearing a white shirt.
