Media members covering Big 12 football picked Nebraska to win the North Division this year in the Cornhuskers’ last season in the conference.
Colorado was picked to finish fifth in the North and Oklahoma was picked to win the South.
Nebraska, which joins the Big Ten next July, received all 26 first-place votes. Missouri was picked to be the North runner-up. In the South, Oklahoma received 16 first-place votes and runner-up Texas received 10.

Wyndham Clark of Greenwood Village was eliminated from the USGA Junior Match Play Championship at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Mich., losing 1-up in the round of 64 to Andrew Fogg of Greenwood, Ind.

The Northern Colorado men’s basketball team is going back to Las Vegas this year. The Bears, coming off a 25-8 season, last played in Las Vegas Classic two seasons ago. They will play at Orleans Arena on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27.
The pairings for the tournament, now called the Invitational, haven’t been finalized. Also in the field are Kansas, Arizona, Santa Clara, Ohio, Bethune-Cookman, Valparaiso and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Metro State men’s basketball team signed junior college transfers Paul Brotherson, an Australian who played at Central Wyoming, and Quaran Johnson of Philadelphia as well as incoming freshman Brandon Jefferson of Lewisville, Texas.
Brotherson is a 6-foot-5 forward who averaged 16.1 points and 6.6 rebounds at Central Wyoming last season. Johnson, a 6-foot guard, played on a league championship team at Ohlone (Calif.) Community College. They have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jefferson, a 5-9 guard, averaged 18.8 points last season and was his Class 5A district’s co-player of the year.
