She can’t drink or smoke cigarettes, but Lindsay Lohan can still enjoy a powerful cocktail of prescription drugs in jail.
Lohan is allowed to take the stimulant Adderall to treat Attention Deficit Disorder and the sleeping pill Ambien to knock her out at night, TMZ reports.
The actress’ estranged dad, Michael Lohan, told TMZ he’s upset because he says those drugs got his daughter into trouble in the first place.
Lohan, 24, reported to jail Tuesday after she was sentenced to three months for violating probation by missing alcohol education classes.
She was on probation for a string of drug and alcohol-related crimes in 2007.
Even though Lohan is expected to serve as little as two weeks in jail with good behavior because of overcrowding, she’ll have to follow up her jail stint with three solid months in rehab.
Disgraced ex-New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was so desperate to be on TV, he accepted a contract from CNN for less than $1 million to host a prime-time, 8 p.m. show, according to the New York Post.
He’s making closer to $500,000 than $1 million, as is his co-host, Kathleen Parker, a source told the New York Post’s Page Six.
Larry King, however, recently signed a contract for $3 million — down from $7 million — just to present specials for the network with the possibility of hosting a weekend show similar to “Larry King Live.”
The salaries are low because CNN reportedly doesn’t think the 8 p.m. show will do that well.
Katie Holmes, who plays former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy in The History Channel’s upcoming miniseries “The Kennedys,” says the best part of the gig is the clothes.
“It’s been really fun! Her clothes were magnificent,” Holmes told UsMagazine at Monday’s Manhattan premiere of her film “The Extra Man.”
“I feel so lucky. We have these wonderful seamstresses who are creating beautiful dresses that are obviously replicas of real things she wore. Armani made two dresses for me to wear.”
And the 31-year-old wife of Tom Cruise and mom of Suri takes inspiration from the late icon for her own style, too. “She not only had great style, but she (was) an artist (and) a writer. She was an illustrator.,” Holmes told Us.
She added: “Her great style was both appropriate for every event that she went to and also classic, and also things that were wearable. I feel really lucky to be playing her.”
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger this week appointed actress Geena Davis to a California commission established to promote women’s equality.
Schwarzenegger named the 54-year-old actress to the Commission on the Status of Women. The nonpartisan panel advocates for women and girls in areas such as education and access to health care.
Davis, a Democrat, has worked off screen to reduce gender stereotyping. She is the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in the Media and is a partner with United Nations Development Fund for Women.
“I am delighted to join the governor and this commission,” Davis said in a statement. “This appointment affords an important opportunity to improve the lives and well being of girls and women throughout California.” She won an Oscar in 1989 for her supporting role in “The Accidental Tourist” and was nominated for best actress in 1992 for “Thelma and Louise.” The appointment lasts four years and requires Senate confirmation. The 17 commissioners receive a $100 per diem.
