NEW ORLEANS — Chris Paul has requested to be traded, and the New Orleans Hornets have scheduled a meeting with the guard Monday.

Paul has told the Hornets he would prefer to be dealt to one of only a handful of teams. According to a report, the New York Knicks top Paul’s preferred destinations, with a plan to add Denver’s Carmelo Anthony to join Amar’e Stoudemire and form another triple-threat team that would rival Le- Bron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat.

Paul told guests at Anthony’s recent wedding in New York City about his plan to team with the Nuggets forward and Stoudemire “and form our own Big Three,” multiple witnesses told Newsday.

The Hornets, however, have made it clear they have no intention of trading Paul, who has two years remaining on his contract.
