More than 100 boats are expected to compete in the 37th annual sailing competition at Lake Dillon this weekend.

The Dillon Open and the Junior Sailing Tour are hosted by the Dillon Yacht Club, which boasts of being the nation’s highest yacht club at 9,017 feet above sea level.

The race will host three courses this year, including the first on the main body of Lake Dillon for one-design keel boats.

The second course for the junior tour will be held in Dillon Bay, and the third course for the Laser No Coast Championships will be held on Giberson Bay, based out of the Frisco Marina.

Proceeds from the competition will be donated to the Dillon Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program, a non-profit that provides weekly sailing camps for children in the Western Slope and along the Front Range.

Proceeds from past years have allowed the purchase of a new building, new boats, hiring of top youth instructors, and have increased scholarship funds for financially disadvantaged youth.

Opening ceremonies will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Registration is available at .
