DENVER—Former Colorado First Lady Frances Owens is endorsing Republican Scott McInnis for governor, saying he has a proven conservative record and can get the state on the path to economic recovery.
Owens said Thursday that she has known McInnis for many years and that he has the knowledge to handle Colorado’s current economic challenges. She is the former wife of two-term Gov. Bill Owens.
McInnis, a former Colorado legislator and congressman, faces businessman Dan Maes in the Aug. 10 primary. Former GOP congressman Tom Tancredo was set to announce Thursday that he’ll run for governor on the American Constitution Party ticket.
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
