NEW YORK — The Yankees expect to acquire Lance Berkman from the Astros today and already worked out a deal to obtain outfielder Austin Kearns from the Indians.

New York is expected to send two prospects to the Astros, but the talks are ongoing.

“Nothing’s been completed,” Berkman said Friday.

A five-time all-star, Berkman has full no-trade rights, and his approval was necessary for a trade. He was not in the starting lineup Friday night against the Brewers.

“I’m from Texas. Heck, I played at Rice. This city is like the womb. I feel very comfortable here. To think about the possibility of going anywhere else is kind of scary,” Berkman said.

Berkman, 34, is hitting .245 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs. Kearns is hitting .272 with eight homers and 42 RBIs.

White Sox acquire Jackson

PHOENIX — The Diamondbacks traded right-hander Edwin Jackson, who tossed the second no-hitter in franchise history June 25, to the White Sox for rookie Daniel Hudson and prospect David Holmberg.

Jackson was 6-10 with a 5.16 ERA in 21 starts for the Diamondbacks, coming off an all-star season in which he went 13-9 with a 3.62 ERA in 33 starts covering 214 innings for Detroit.

The 32-year-old Guzman is hitting .282 with two homers and 25 RBIs while seeing time at second base, shortstop and right field.
