GREELEY — Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin will appear before a military judge Friday to enter his plea in a court-martial proceeding against the former Greeley resident.

Lakin is being court-martialed by the Army for refusing to obey orders to deploy to Afghanistan because Lakin believes the president has refused to prove his eligibility under the Constitution to hold office, saying Barack Obama hasn’t revealed his birth certificate.

“If President Obama is a natural born citizen, then the American people deserve to see proof, and if he is not, then I believe the orders in this case were illegal,” Lakin said in a news release.

If convicted, Lakin faces up to four years in a federal penitentiary.
