A convicted sex offender was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for possession of child pornography.
Anthony Long, 64, of Greeley, pleaded guilty on June 11 to sexual exploitation of a child, according to a media release from the Weld County District Attorney’s Office.
An investigation began in 2009 when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents received a tip about Long downloading child porn from the Internet, prosecutors said. Greeley Police detectives obtained a search warrant for Long’s residence and joined the investigation.
Investigators seized items from Long’s home including a computer, thumb drives and numerous discs, according to the release, and discovered at least 400 images of child pornography stored on multiple devices.
Among the images were photos Long created by imposing the face of a 13-year-old girl missing from Maryland onto child pornography images of known victims, the DA’s office said.
“Long’s criminal history, which dates back to 1975 and includes several convictions for various crimes against children, was a significant factor in his sentencing,” the release said.
After the prison sentence, Long will serve at least five years of mandatory parole.
