A Denver neighborhood in danger of becoming a “food desert” — an area severely underserved by grocery markets — after the closing of a grocery at 48th Avenue and Pecos Street this summer celebrated the opening of the Colorado Ranch Market on Wednesday at the same location.
The 35,000-square-foot grocery is owned by Leevers Supermarkets Inc., a third-generation family business that operates seven Save-a-Lot grocery stores in Colorado, including five in metro Denver.
