By the end of the day Wednesday, copies of the music video “Colorado Girls” had hit my Facebook and e-mail pages as fast as a new Lady Gaga release. And this came right on the heels of a clip from “Letterman” with actor Michael Cera about his recent near-death experience near Red Rocks.

“Colorado Girls” is a take on Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg’s “California Gurls.” I favor Colorado’s version, but there are those cupcakes in California.

“Colorado Girls” was written, directed and performed by Lauren Brady, Ian Rice and Josh Greenwood and their pals — and makes you proud of the state’s women in a crunchy kind of way. They sing about Coors Light, biking, rafting, Tom Shane, Molly Brown, Water World, Casa Bonita and “snow-flaked hair” And it’s going Colorado viral: 54,000 views and a bullet.

Cera is poised to be America’s next nerdy superhero in the upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” — tagline “An epic of epic epicness.” He wasn’t such a hero last month, however, as he told David Letterman. Cera and some pals went climbing around Red Rocks, sat down and started talking as they watched the sun set — and then realized they were lost. The seriousness of the situation become clear when Cera revealed they stayed lost for 20 whole minutes. The guys were “doubting ourselves and turning on each other,” said Cera. Ugly! They were rescued by two night hikers. You can easily find the clip on YouTube. And a visit to “California Gurls” won’t hurt.

Timing.

It’s all about timing. And sadly, the clowns were sent in a week early.

Aug. 1-7 is National Clown Week. You may have seen a few around town, playing putt-putt or clearing out a crawlspace, but the celebration week ends Saturday.

And the next Saturday, Aug. 14, is opening day of Mile High Music Festival, which features many musicians and, more importantly to clowns, the Mile High Festival Carpool Sweepstakes. The idea here is to bring four or more people to the fest in your car — and to decorate your car to draw attention to your green-driving efforts. For this you get close-in parking and VIP upgrades for everyone in the car. Well, you know that a clown car can hold about 50 people — and a clown car never arrives without fanfare. But too bad, Bozos, you’re a week early.

Glorious food.

Vail’s Kelly Liken continues to survive on “Top Chef,” and after a rough start she’s starting to shine . . . On Sept. 1 on Food Network, the series “Theme Restaurant Battle” features Denver’s Aaron Seelbinder and Baylor Ferrier, who “hope to introduce some ‘new blood’ and life into the restaurant industry with an upscale redneck chic concept,” says a release.

City spirit.

So where do you go when you hit the cycle? Last Saturday, Rockie Carlos Gonzalez went right to P.F. Chang’s . . . AMC Cancer hosts a Dinner in White party Saturday night. You register at and you wear white — but you won’t be told where the outdoor picnic is until one hour before the fun starts. It’s a flash mob . . . Sez who: “I like boring things.” Andy Warhol
