A hiker who got lost near the Colorado Trail in Jefferson County was found about 7 a.m. today by members of the Alpine Rescue Team.
The hiker was found near Highway 126 and Forest Road 550, according to Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Kelley said the hiker was with friends yesterday afternoon but got separated from the group.
Although he was wearing only shorts and a T-shirt, and had no water or food, Kelley said the 30-year-old man is “fine” except for a few scratches.
She said the man told rescuers he got turned around and decided to stay put during the night. He planned to walk out at dawn, she said.
Kelley said that the hiker’s friends had searched for him until 11 p.m. Thursday.
Kelley said the temperatures in the mountains last night were in the low 50s and did not pose a problem for the man although he was lightly dressed.
