WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson say they’ve put last week’s wreck at Pocono behind them.

Johnson caused a stunning late-race crash that collected Elliott Sadler, Clint Bowyer and Busch. Replays showed Johnson’s No. 48 appearing to hit Busch’s blue No. 2 Dodge from behind.

Johnson, who has had several run-ins with Busch, calls it a good rivalry. He said he called Busch on Monday to clear the air and hopes they can steer clear of one another in today’s Sprint Cup road race at Watkins Glen.

“It is nothing intentional and nothing I have against him,” Johnson said. “He and I joked on the phone that we have these magnets we can’t get rid of.”

Carl Edwards won the pole for today’s race after turning a lap of 124.432 mph in 70.882 seconds to easily outdistance Jamie McMurray.

Ambrose wins Nationwide event.

Starting from the pole for the first time at Watkins Glen, Marcos Ambrose dominated the Nationwide Zippo 200 and won the race for the third straight time. He led 60 of 82 laps, had a perfect driver rating of 150 and beat Joey Logano by 2.8 seconds.

Footnotes.

Will Power captured the pole for today’s IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio in Lexington. Dario Franchitti qualified second, followed by Takuma Sato.

• Points leader Todd Bodine earned his second victory of the season, winning the Nashville 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in Gladeville, Tenn.
