The Colorado Department of Transportation is demolishing the Federal Boulevard bridge under U.S. 285 in southwest Denver to make way for a new bridge.
Crews began dismantling the north section of the bridge Saturday evening. Work will continue until 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
Federal Boulevard will be closed over U.S. 285, or Hampden Avenue. A lane on westbound Hampden will also be closed.
The $40.1 million project will rebuild about 4 miles of U.S. 285 between Federal and Kipling Parkway, add through lanes and replace bridges on the highway over Wadsworth Boulevard, Pierce Street and Federal.
