A massive search by agencies, volunteers, friends, dogs and a Colorado National Guard helicopter was suspended Saturday night without finding a sign of a 61-year-old man who has been missing near Redstone since July 30.

William Worley of Redstone, about 35 miles southwest of Aspen, was reported missing Aug. 1.

He was last seen two days earlier about 6:30 p.m. His car was found on the East Creek trailhead Aug. 3.

The original search area of 50 square miles in Pitkin County had been reduced to 2 square miles of very steep terrain.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday night that the official search would be suspended. The investigation into his disappearance will continue but foul play is not suspected. Information has been entered into the missing-persons database in case Worley was outside the search area.
