DENVER—The Colorado Department of Transportation will start rebuilding the Federal Boulevard Bridge at U.S. 285 in the southwest Denver area by first demolishing the bridge.

Crews will start dismantling the north section of the bridge at 7 p.m. Saturday. Work will continue until 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

Federal Boulevard will be closed at U.S. 285, or Hampden Avenue. A lane on westbound Hampden will also be closed.

The $40.1 million project will rebuild about four miles of U.S. 285 between Federal and Kipling Parkway, add through lanes and replace bridges on the highway over Wadsworth Boulevard, Pierce Street and Federal.
